If you set your email to show full headers, you should then be able to get her IP address. From this you can search here

http://visualroute.visualware.com/

to get her isp.

Dr Bob should also be able to access this. This will, at the least, tell us her service provider. Can you email her message to Dr Bob with full headers on??

Did you ever think that Kristen might not want her private business and emails broadcast on PB? I think its totally out of order to do something like that, If someone had done that to me I would feel very betrayed.

In an emergency - all bets are off. It's about safety and keeping people cared for - especially if they can't care for themselves at that moment. The only thing those emails revealed is that Krissy was struggling and in trouble. That information would only be used to help her - which is what this board is all about. It was very brave of her to reach out and very brave of others to take action to make sure she's ok. I hope she's back on the board in a few days so we can continue to get her support and maybe give her a little of what she needs in this hard, hard time.

in fact, i was very concerned with that very issue, especially with making her feel i had betrayed her. So, yes i did think about it a lot ... and i decided that i would have to accept that risk, although she had posted her e-mail here once before ... but i had to believe it was the better part of valor to suffer her ire than to let her be in peril.

i can only hope her response is one of understanding that she presented a situation where some action must be taken. .. i pray she does understand.

what would you have suggested, instead?

The very last thing on my mind as I reacted to the threat to her wellbeing was what others would think of me for acting to potentially prevent a tragedy. A misguided sense of loyalty could cost someone their life. Can you think of a worse kind of betrayal than that? What is the only legal reason a health-care professional can break a patient's absolute right to privacy? Whether a sense of betrayal is appropriate or not following such a breach of confidence, I can assure you that you will get over the sense of betrayal. But the alternative?

I'm still a firm believer in the "cry for help." I know four people who attempted suicide and two additional folks who succeeded. The two who succeeded didn't tell a soul. The others are alive today--and happy about it--thanks to intervention from the friends they warned. (The teenager next door didn't warn anyone, but she turned her stereo on at top volume so her mom could hear it. Of course, she also attempted suicide with a bottle of Tylenol.)

I apologise Jim for my harsh words. I just felt that if I was in a desperate situation, that seeing my private emails on PB might have made me feel worse, but I have Issues, and it wasnt me. You are a true friend Jim, you DID the right thing for her.

http://www.ecureme.com/emyhealth/data/Acetominophen_Overdose.asp

Even without any symptoms, you need to seek immediate attention by contacting Poison Control, calling 911, or going to a hospital. Many individuals have few symptoms early on. Consequently, by the time symptoms develop, severe liver damage may occur, and even death.

I agree with you about suicide. Some people say that you can't stop people that are determined to do it but of course you can. Maybe not forever and maybe not by yourself but people rarely stay suicidal 24 hours a day forever.
I wasn't sure what you meant by the bottle of Tylenol remark but it is such an ugly way to die and it takes a long time. I thought I would put up the reference. I think there should be a warning printed on that stuff for people who only want to cry for help. I found a book on amazon about ways to commit suicide which included a section for people who only want to cry for help on how to make an impressive attempt without seriously damaging yourself! I found that terribly amusing yet practical at the time but no I'm not posting a link. Tylenol is not one of those ways. It can destroy a kid's liver if you don't get treatment early enough.

I hope I didn't break the rules about not posting methods of suicide but I meant it as a way Not to commit suicide. I probably misinterpreted your remark too. No offence intended.

I am so glad you posted this about Tylonel. My best friend's brother OD'd on Tylonel. Luckily, he started throwing up and was in the ER within 24 hours. But he still had to be hospitalized for 2 weeks and is now living with a messed up liver. Tylonel is a very scary thing to take too much of.

What remark? I didn't make a remark. I simply said, "Of course, she also attempted suicide with a bottle of Tylenol." That's what she did. It takes a really long time to die from it, so there was an easier chance her mother would find her.

> I probably misinterpreted your remark too. No offence intended.
