ADs, yawnnning..concetnration & memory..5HTP, SAMe

Posted by DJ on July 29, 1999, at 13:55:36

Currently on 10 mg of Celexa for a couple of days and noticing some yawning side effects arising, particularly when I am attempting to focus on difficult technical material and am feeling some frustration. Recently briefly tried Effexor or 37.5 and 75 mg. doses and the yawning and brain fog were too much. In the past I've used low end doses of Paxil and Zoloft but found the brain fog and yawning excessive.

Brain fog is there, oftentimes particularly when stressed, without the ADs, and the yawning somewhat but it is exacerbated and excessive with the ADs. Memory and concetration are often a problem, with or without the ADs....

Any suggestions on counteractnig the yawning, concetration and also memory challenges preferably without adding a chemical soup of pharmaceuticals.

BTW, going back over some of the postings I've noted some comments on 5-HTP and SAM-e (which is not yer available in Canada). However I don't believe I've seen any postings indicating people having successful experiences with these. Have any of you? WIth 5-HTP and St. John's Wort's combos and if so at what mix?

I have been taking SAMe for 11 months now. I have fibromyalgia. SAMe has done alot to improve my state of being and to help control pain. If you are in Canada you can order it from the US (www.drugstore.com for ex.) I couldn't function without my SAMe. In fact it was so bad I could barely get out of bed. The only side-effects of SAMe were some stomach upset and GI stuff for about two weeks. Other than that it's great. I plan on starting 5-htp with my SAMe for increased improvement once I find out if it is relatively safe to do so. What is AD?
