Effexor 75mg menstral cycle

Posted by Maeryn on March 13, 2003, at 14:40:08

I started Effexor in September and my husband and I have decided to ttc. I was looking back to figure out my O days and I have had my period EVERY 28 days at exactly 4:00, Unless I was pregnant. I was figuring last night and I found that starting in November it was 32 days December it was 35 days January was 28 days, February was 32, March was 35, so it goes 32,35,28,32,35,28. Or it looks like it anyway. It looks like there is still a pattern but I am worried about it. Has anybody had anything similar???
PLEASE HELP!!!!!

I think the Effexor has just made your period irregular. I don't find this surprising as lots of drugs, especially stimulating ones, can disrupt your menstrual cycle.

As long as you are using birth control and you still get a period every month, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

My periods have been 28 days as long as I can remember but sense starting Effexor they have been 4 days later each month and much heavier. For years they've always been about 2 days long. I'm on day four this month. Another big change was the PMS, I was AUFUL, I really felt sorry for my family. I'm going to the Dr. today, I don't want me or my family to go through that again. Anyone else have these systems?

> Maeryn, can you tell us how old you are and whether you are on the pill?
My cycle got shorter (26 days) around the age of 25 and has been that way ever since (except when I'm on the pill, which puts me back on a 28-day cycle.) Hormonal changes, often resulting in a shorter cycle, are common in your 20s. The pill will make your period lighter too.

Hi thank you very much for your responces to answer some of your questions, I just turned 24 in February, and I am not on the pill. I also noticed especially this month that my PMS was hugely worse. I was just crying and bitchy and mean, I am never that way, Not since I got things together the last few months anyway. Just had a couple of bad pitty days right before the D-day. I have also developed cramps I have never had cramps. Thay are bad I went and bought midol for the first time ever what an awesome pill!!! lol I am sure my hubby appreciated it too. Anyway Thanx for your responces and we will chat with you later.

Hi,

My periods were late too when I was on effexor. When I started taking it, it was 2 weeks late one month, and got my periods 2 weeks early a few months later. It evened out after that at about 31-34 days, instead of 29.

I just wanted to let you know that the very first month I stopped taking effexor, my periods returned to normal. I was worried that my hormones were getting permanently messed up, but that wasn't the case.
