I have heard some mention of aches and pains, and I was wondering if this is a side affect of the SSRI medications. I have been taking Paxil, and was just recently switched to Zoloft (taking them simultaneously during the 'switch'). I wonder about this because I too suffer from terrible aches...I wake up in the morning and can barely move, my ankles and calves hurt so bad. My entire body aches all day long. My arms hurt so bad I can barely lift anything. I also suffer from extreme fatigue and sweating. I am always SO tired, and I am uncomfortable all day long. I have a very hard time getting up in the morning, and wish I could just stay in bed. I have 3 children, I'm a single parent, and I have a full time job that I have to go to everyday, so staying in bed is not an option. Their father lives 5 states away, so obviously, he is no help. Of course, he could live next door and still wouldn't be any help. Anyway, I need to know if these terrible aches and pains, the tiredness and sweating, and the feeling of being overwhelmed, are side affects of the medicine.

Tiredness and weakness can be a side effect
of ssri medications. If you're not sleeping
well - (sometimes a side effect of SSRI's)
then you might not be healing from the stress
of the day before.I personally got a back ache while on celexa
but I don't know if celexa caused it.

A friend and I both take Zoloft. Both of us get joint/pain problems if we go higher than 50 mgs. on it.

I'm on a very low dose since we are just starting out with it. I was taking 40 mg of Paxil, was switched to Paxil CR 12.5mg cause of the side affects of the Paxil. There was no change, so now I am taking the Paxil CR along with Zoloft 25 mg. What other side affects do you suffer from? Do you get fever type chills? Sweating and fatigue? At this point, I don't know what is causing the side affects...paxil or zoloft. Or both?

Your aches may well be a side-effect from SSRI-stiffness. In this changeover period between meds (Paxil to Zoloft), you may be experiencing the side-effects of changing serotonin levels in your system and this can ABSOLUTELY cause pain and fatigue. Sweating is (for most) a temporary side-effect of either starting up an SSRI or discontinuing it. These are symptoms you should not have to live with for very long, perhaps a few weeks.
If it does not go away after the Paxil is out of your body and the Zoloft is at a stable dose, you might want to consider a different med, since Zoloft, like many SSRIs, have a tendency to provoke muscle aches.

For me, Zoloft was a hard med to get used to. Many people I talk to here can't even tolerate it at 25 mgs. I still get the chills, nausea and fatigue sometimes. It may help to switch the time you take it. I used to take all 50 mgs. in the morning but found it too sedating. If it makes you tired you might want to take it at night, if it makes you wired you could try taking it in the morning. Personally, if I was taking Zoloft and Paxil at the same time I wouldn't be able to get off the couch. Paxil was VERY sedating for me. I couldn't function on it. I think the chills seem to be an effect of changing meds, the sweating possibly too. What were the side effect problems with the Paxil? I sure can understand your frustration, especially when you have to be able to take care of children at the same time as all of these yucky med changes. It's hard, I have to do the same thing.

Paxil and Zoloft didn't give me half as nearly as much aches and pains as Prozac and Luvox. I felt this EXACT same way on Seroquel, at first 200mg. I have been on it for 3 1/2 years and it has subsided-Thank God!

hiya, ok-you answered my previous question here (about my question in my previous post to you about why you changed to Zoloft:-)) When I took Paxil-I experienced chills, sweats, rash, not to mention mania that landed me on the hospital.
Just some thoughts:-)

Yes, I felt like this from the start...I've been extremely tired and have been sweating like crazy. Its almost embarrassing at work, as I have a professional job. But, because of these symptoms, the doc thought we should try something else...Zoloft. Now I am having all these aches...bad ones! I have also, just recently, experienced a very tickley throat. Is this normal?? I do take Accupril for high blood pressure as well.

Hi, do you still feel "extremely tired and have been sweating like crazy" since you are OFF the Paxil? How long now on Zoloft? I would give it time, as I have found that sometimes those aches and pains will subside the longer you try to stick with a med, you may be pleasantly surprised.
