Posted by Rainee on February 11, 2003, at 12:40:12

I'm on 20 mgs of Lexapro a day and xanax usually to help me sleep at night.
I'm not in panic prison anymore but lexapro does the same as prozac did for me I still get depressed and it manifests itself with being irritable and want isolate and sleep.
everythings a bore.. you know?
It's like I need some pep in my step.wellbutin makes me very tense.. any suggestions?

Thanks Rainee

Sounds like atypical depressive symptoms or bipolar depressive ones. SSRI's *never* worked by themselves during my bipolar depressive episodes. I had to add a stimulant, a TCA, or Wellbutrin to snap me out of it. WB makes me tense as well. Nortriptyline didn't, and helped energy and reduced anxiety further. Stims probably would make you too uptight. You might tinker with a little Provigil (I haven't tried that one yet-too expensive).

Thanks Ritch,

You hit the nail on the head mentioning bi-polar I'm suspicious for it and It seems I rapid cycle.
I have to look the other you mentioned up the Atypical depression.
I recently lost my SSI and Medicaid and facing a big headache.
I'm looking at trying to work at some point but it is so difficult when one day to the next I don't know what condition I'll be in.
I'm so tired of all this. :(

Have your pdoc(s) ever *formally* diagnosed you as bipolar? Or have you yet to see a psychiatrist? You need to get properly diagnosed and stable so you can feel a reasonable certainty about what is going on-and how to deal with it-and what to anticipate in the future (what to look for and expect to happen to some degree). Can you illustrate what your "rapid cycling" is like?
