>Hi Fairiedust,
I gained almost TWENTY pounds on Paxil and I argued with my pdoc about it because I'm very active and not a big snacker but he didn't believe me. He thinks SSRIs makes you put more stuff in your mouth. I beg to differ. As soon as I stopped taking it, the weight dropped off. It really pissed me off because Paxil really helped me but I wasn't going to take it at the expense of my physical health. I also struggled with withdrawal on Paxil, I had to carefully taper off.
Hope this helped.
Take care and welcome!
Mik

I took Paxil CR 37.5 mg a day for six months. I gained approximately 30lbs. I have now been off Paxil for 2 months and am slowing losing the weight I gained.
I know this gain was from the medication and not from an increase in eating. I exercise regularly and eat right. But, had the Paxil worked I would have stayed on the med. It just didn't help my depression much at all. Hang in there!
