Advice on treatment please

Posted by Jet Meck on January 19, 2003, at 9:06:08

It was my regular doctor who put me on Effexor and Zyprexa to help me with an addiction to GHB. But I have been diagnosed in the past with bipolar 1 and ADHD. Should I start seeing a pdoc? Does anyone feel talking to a pdoc makes a big difference in their life. The medication has helped me tremendously with my moods and mania. I have never felt sad or down but I am learning that being depressed can have different symptoms. I have always been the type to fly off the handle for the smallest of annoyances. But the medication has definitely helped in that area. How can a pdoc make a difference in my treatment?

A pdoc can more accurately hone in on what the exact illness is, and he can then fine tune meds to make you feel and engage more effectively. Definately see the pdoc. General practice MDs are little informed or ill informed at best.
