Where is the new SNRI Milnacipram?

Posted by 3 Beer Effect on November 26, 2002, at 6:05:54

I'm sick of waiting for Eli Lilly's Duloxetine to come out. I read in medical books about a similar compound named Milnacipram Hcl with a possible brand name of [Ixel or Toledomin].
It's in the Merck under #6216. Anyways, when I glanced long ago at the chemical name, it looked like it might be either a phenethylamine or more closely related to the phenethylamine/amphetamine family than Duloxetine & since Dextroamphetamine cures my depression very well for 5-6 hrs per dose, then Milnacipram might be a better choice anyways [As long as its not an awful drug like the Wellbutrin XR or Side-Effexor XR].

But is Milnacipram even going to come out soon or be sold in the U.S.?

Cheers,

Hi 3 Beers,

Long time, no see! How've you been? How's school? I'm sorry I can't answer your question, but I just read on some other Internet message boards that the FDA just approved Lilly's Atomoxetine, which is a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. It will be marketed as an ADD drug under the proprietary name "Strateera." It is not a stimulant and will not be a restricted drug. I read that it is similar to reboxetine, another NRI. I believe Atomoxetine is an antidepressant, but it will not be marketed as such. I think the article said it would be out early in 2003.

Hi BekkaH.

I believe the correct spelling for the trade name of atomoxetine is "Strattera".

Lilly has a few new things on the way:

1. duloxetine (Cymbalta): antidepressant
2. atomoxetine (Strattera): ADD ADHD
3. fluoxetine (Prozac) + olanzapine (Zyprexa) single pill combination: bipolar depression; treatment-resistant depression (TRD); psychotic depression

felt better today . third day of the new medicne whose name i still do not remmber millboon or something last night i had taken extra - full tablet of luvox , Could that have been the reason for less of BP etc or lower pulse rate- wasnt so low actually remained above 90 . I took that AIMIL syrup as well . It has AG in it for sure modalert doesnt kick in so well after AG . Previos experience too was the same. So a modalert extra and then amantadine drained the capsule - nearly half of the white powder. so that was 50 mg of amantadine.
Was I more focussed today ? I watched ULJHAN that french movie amazing experience. Was it the drug started working or was it the steppes and the kazakh landscape and people ... I don not know for sure. But never had such a rich experience watching a movie as today's.

regime was - Luvox 50 at night morning MILNACE , Memtone, and Modalert 100

After the movie was over . I took Amantadine (Amantrel) . Now I think I should have tried Bromocriptine instead. There seemed to be greater focus and concentration without Amantrel.
And I am not feeling so well also.

So tomorrow no Amantrel and if no luvox tonight then its a diffrent regime altogether tomorrow.
I should give the treatment suggested by the doctor some time. 3 days is too early yet for me to be experimenting again . These medications take some time before they show work . In general I think there is some improvement as compared to the situation prior to medication. But wasnt very enthusiatic on phone with any of the guys PK or SC. But generally happy ..internally happy . I could actually dance to a tune HAve I started responding to the external stimuli . Have I started relating to the world . OR was it just that reliance on benzoes and there blunt edges have been removed . I do not know.

Big question is - should I give bromo a chance tomorow? Or should I revert back to the original scheme without memtone. But millboon and modalert is lot of BP and Heart rate. Also modalert doesnt enahcne focus or does it I dont notice it because i get carried away by its mood enahancing effect? Sex was little awkward and difficult after modalert and memtone?

Will talk to the doc tomorrow
Lets remove modalert or memtone and check it out.

Sorry for appearing slightly cryptic I in fact pasted it from a diary I keep at my blog.
Milnace or Milboon is Milnacipram. I take 25 mg. Modalert is Modafinil. Memtone is a ayurvedic syrup.
All prescribed by my doc a neuro. I was also asked to take Deanxit in the afternoon but that made my heart beat and BP rise so quit it.
