I have been using Paxil successfully for over 10 years, but was having trouble with weight gain, so my doctor just switched me to Lexapro. Has anyone out there done the same switch? How did it work for you? Paxil helped me IMMEDIATELY when I began taking it, and I'm hoping that switching to Lexapro won't involve a long wait for it to be effective for me -- any comments on this?

You will feel definate changes that last
about a week or so. There are subtle differences
between the drugs, that will take a little time
to adjust to.

After a week you should notice both improvement
and reduction of side effects.

I agree. I had pretty intense side effects the first 3-4 days on Lexapro, then everything got much better. I am feeling great now!
I had been off the Paxil (30 mg/day)for a month or more (cold turkey) before taking Lexapro (10 mg/day). I like Lexapro a lot better than Paxil.
