15 mo. Old Paxil and Serzone still good?

Posted by Roman on August 30, 2002, at 20:28:14

I have one bottle each of Paxil and Serzone that are about 15 months old. Are they still okay to use or should I throw them away?

Throw them away, Roman. The rule of thumb is medications expire one year after the fill date.

Well, at least there's more space in the medicine cabinet now.

Yeah, generally they expire after a year. Sonata expires sooner; the expiration date on the bottle is usually about 9 months!

My husband thinks it's all a conspiracy to make drug companies richer!

I think (Cam, you there? Help out!) meds usually become ineffective, rather than dangerous. That is, they become impotent. (Hmmm. That's another whole discussion.)

Well, when a single toilet-flush is worth over $100 US, it does make you think.

Rendering a bottle of Paxil impotent--how's that for vengeance?

Thanks all,
