MAOI diet - side effects

You can get dangerously high blood pressure if you eat foods that contain tyramine while taking an MAOI. If the blood pressure continuously remains high it may lead to a stroke.

I am taking 40 mg Parnate. Once, I ate some chicken nuggets that had been in the fridge. I had a headache, and my blood pressure went up to 150/90. It is usually 105/60. So it was no big deal and went away in an hour. As long as you don't deliberately ignore the diet restrictions, the chances of anything more than a minor increase in blood pressure (like mine) is pretty rare. If the medicine works well, it may be worth taking the small risk.

oh... how long had they been in the fridge for? ... like a day, or a week?
