There is a Psychobabble member who hasn't been here in a while by the screen name of Zo. I believe she was taking Dexedrine AND Provigil together!! She was also taking Lamictal and Effexor, I think. I was stunned to learn that one could combine Dexedrine and Provigil. Anyway, your idea sounds good, as long as you don't experience any adverse interactions. I mean, I don't know what the half-life of Provigil is, and it also depends on how good a metabolizer you are. I'm a so-called "slow-metabolizer" and I have tremendous difficulty combining meds, even on alternate days. The half lives of some drugs are so long that, even if I don't take them on a particular day, they are still in my system and they take a few days to wash out.

I have heard of this, alternating stime, to avoid
tolerance. Seems it might be best to use an amphetamine
and a non-amphetamine stim. Like Adderal and Provigil.I don't take my Dexadrine on the weekends. My doc
insists I should but most times I enjoy my free time
without the drive to "do" things. This may help me avoid
tolerance, I am not sure. Some do require stims every day.
I had to rotate antihistamines every month, till I
found Zyrtec.

Thanks for the input. I have found that for me to even take a day off is pretty bad. My dx is without the hyperactivity, or -H. Dexedrine worked for me in the past, but I found Adderall xr to be better. Also, to add to the safety of Provigil as an adjunct, I've also taken it with Parnate at 90mg (and Provigil 600mg per day) with good results for 1 year +. Quit due to tolerance effects. Provigil is way out there on it's own in it's pharmacology.......and IMHO well worth the FDA indication for ADD it did NOT recieve. Politics I assume. I may run the idea of the combo past my doctor and see what he thinks....can't hurt.
