Check out this news item from England (Jeff Rense is something of a wierdo <even compared to me>), but this is from his often interesting newslinks:

The British have had fairly free access, but it appears as though they and the rest of Europe are about to lose what options they have. Herbals and Naturally occuring supplements have proven pretty ineffective so far for depression, but there are multitudinous natural substances out there, and in the US, someone may discover that one or the other makes a good AD, and do an end run around the gatekeepers, so to speak. We've got to avoid what's happening in Europe because then we'd have the WORST of BOTH worlds.

Yes, this legislation is outrageous, and there has been a huge outcry here, to no avail.
The fact that the pharm. companies are to blame speaks volumes- and as they are some of THE major financial contributors to governments, I would'nt count on it not happening in the US. either.

Oh don't even get me started on the gross commercialization of the pharmaceutical industry. They don't capitalize on anything they can't patent, they don't market what's most effective, but what is most appealing or addictive (case in point, SSRI's whose horrible withdrawal symptoms were strangely overlooked). Now they're shutting out the underdogs?! Sigh... even though their greed sickens me I must still pay homage to my masters. Yes my over glorified over grown pill peddlers beckon...
