Hello,
I took Anafranil for only two weeks, for my OCD. I stopped taking it because it effected very badly my concentration and my cognitive function. I just couldn't understand words I read or even heard.
However, two months have passed, and I didn't get my full concentration back (the other side effects, such as dizziness, had gone after about six weeks).Did anybody have similar experience with Anafranil (or with other SRI)?
If you had such experience, how long it took untill the concentration get back?
Is there any med that can help in such case?
Any information will help a lot!!!

Hi Moti,
Sorry to hear you are still suffering from side effects.
What does your psychiatrist say about your symptoms (does he think they are related to the drug)? Were you on a high dose? Do you suffer from other problems besides OCD?
I took Anafranil in the past for years but did not suffer from these side effects (though it didn't help at all). Sorry I can't be of any help.

I took Anafranil for OCD in the past. Some concentration problems are sometimes caused by these types of meds. BUT you seem to have had an extreme reaction. Are you sure it was due to the drug..did you have any such type of problem BEFORE the Anafranil?
There are SSRI meds. that are approved and are effective for OCD as well. Zoloft has helped me a great, great deal. But that's always and "individual" thing..may help some, may not help others.
