Duloxetin Release??????

Called Lilley customer service, re: release date on Duloxetin, this afternoon. I was told by the nice young lady who took my call, the target release date for the new drug is 2003. Screwed again by the FDA.

It is just amazing - the FDA totally ignores the SIGNIFICANT RESEARCH done long term in Europe, with large numbers of participants in the study group, then requires a 6 to 8 week study here. They follow this up with bureaucratic nonsense that delays release for years. The FDA is nothing more than a LABELING agency, why do they have to be such an obstacle to medical progress? Maybe its time to stop placing all the blame on the evil, greedy drug companies - let's let the FDA and the Tort Lawyers have their share.

Is it possible that Duloxetine (Cymbalta) will be released in Europe first because the studies done in Europe ?!

Hi Ben,

I am not at all sure about the release of Duloxetine (Cymbalta) in Europe but Eli Lilley does have a web site. I wouldn't expect too much by inquiring from the company, they are afraid of incurring "The Rath of God" (God being the FDA, and providing any information prior to release = the rath). When I spoke with the company here in the states all they would tell me was their "target date" for release was some time in 2003.

You might have some luck if you can find a European university research center that has done some of the testing.
