insomniabeardy

Hi Beardy,

Sorry to have prattled on about pain before, when you were referring to insomnia.I just have to mention Remeron again here, because I've suffered with insomnia since childhood. This stuff would soothe a charging rhino. and send him to sleep.I would say your mileage may vary, but I've never heard of anyone who's failed to be dispatched to the the land of nod with Remeron. It consistently knocked me out nightly for around ten months, and my sleep pattern is now restored to (almost) normal.
Maybe Sam-e's daytime energizing effects help, but here, your mileage definitely may vary!

Sweet Dreams

Col.

Colin:

Yippie! My own thread about me me me! But alas, this is where it will probably end.

I'm not looking for another drug to replace Serzone, really. Besides, my pdoc won't put me on Remeron because of the weight gain. I just wanted to make myself better through vitamins and naturally occuring stuff. Melatonin doesn't work. I wish I knew of a food that you could eat to relax!

Thanks for your help and advice.

Do you sleep deeply? Do you wake up feeling like you've slept the winter away? Please give me some details.

Thanks,

Michael D

Beardy's thread continues!!!Is it doomed to fizzle out..? Surely not.Try Kava Kava.Fantastic stuff.Hmmm...then again, it probably won't mix with the Sezone.Still, any inane suggestions will lenghten your thread. That's another good idea. I've often wished I'd had the money to lengthen my own thread.Burble, burble....

It takes me a little while to get out of bed, but I feel rested and good once I do. I've been on Serzone for three years, since six months after the insomnia started. I'm pretty cured, but I don't want to be on Serzone. I suppose I sleep deeply--I dream a lot. It varies. Last night, I woke up five times from my husband's snoring. (I even wear earplugs!) Still, I feel good.

I'm sorry, Michael D., but Colin had moved from the SAMe thread to address one of my notes. My whole life history is under this heading:

oy vey! » Ron Hill beardedlady 3/22/02

I don't know how to add a link here! Aaargh! Anyway, I'm just wondering if SAMe will work on this old problem for which Serzone has been the perfect cure, but who WANTS to be on meds? We all just HAVE to. But now this SAMe could make us feel like we're just on VITAMINS! Yea!

Ms. B. Lady,

Here's how: Bring up the message on you screen that you want to provide the link for. Block and copy the URL (in the address box of your browser). Go back to the post you are composing and paste the URL. The link will not actually be activiated until it posts on the message board.

Be careful through, more times than I care to remember I've lost partially completed posts (in the dialogue box) by surfing to other pbabble pages before completing and sending off the post. I hate it when I go back, back, back, back to return to my "post in-progress" only to find that it has apparently vaporized into the ethernet. Have you ever done that? Make ya mad? Does me!

And the thread goes on, the thread goes on ...

Thanks, Ron. Actually, that's what I did, but it didn't show up as a link!

By the way: do you have a job now? What do you do? Now that you are better, can you get your old job back?

Ms. Lady,

Thank you for caring! By and large, life is a one way street. Rarely does it work out to go back. The Lord will provide. For a long time I have wanted to work with kids full-time. Perhaps the Lord will soon open a door for me to teach junior high math and/or science.

Beardy, I am so thankful that I am well so I can begin to invest in the lives of others again. I love engineering work, but life is short. An old pastor of mine often exhorted us to "Lay aside that which is good to make time for the very best". Making widgets is fun, but challenging young people to be all they can be provides reward that money won't buy.

In the short-term, I have a ton of projects to do at home. Six years of dysfunction creates a real backlog in the household project department. Also, my wife and I are in the beginning phases of having a passively solar heated home built. I've got a lot of the design done and we are currently trying to find a lot to buy.

Unless I say something about meds in this post, I run the risk of being reminded that this belongs on the social board. HEREYE, HEREYE my meds are 600 mg/day Lithobid and 200 mg/day SAM-e and I am doing very well, thankfully.

Thanks for caring!

-- Ron

P.S. Your thread endures!

What a thread! I was going to ask you the same question as Beardy, Ron.I know exactly what you mean when you associate a former career with 'moving backwards', especially when the intervening period has been so crap.Best of luck if you decide to go for the teaching.(it can be a scream if you're cut out for it)>
Better make mention of a med here too...er...
Tianeptine...seratonin-reuptake accelerator?Sam-e increases the turnover of seratonin doesn't it?Same sort of thing??

Col.

(hope you're snatching some zzzz's there Beardy!)
this is your thread after all.

I feel GREAT since the B vitamins. And if it's all in my mind, well SO WHAT! That's exactly where it's supposed to be! Next week comes reduction #2 in the Great Serzone Taper, at which time I might add a new companion to the mix: SAMe, of course.

Oh, and thanks, Ron and Colin, for the nice SAMe mug and paperweight you sent. The order is forthcoming. (Just kidding, everyone.)

the great bearded one

Colin,

I thought I asked you to hold off on handing out the SAMe mug and paperweight sets until we have our pyramid scheme better established! This is coming out of your cut of the loot, not mine!

Seeing I want to try SAM-e & have good intentions, could you please send me a free mug & paperweight before I "order"? Is there different sizes of mug & colour selection too? ;-)

Maybe could the non-medication discussion be redirected to Psycho-Social-Babble? Thanks! :-)
