I just found out that the antidepressant drugs Minaprine and Nomifensine, which have been withdrawn from the market in my country, are still being approved and sold in Switzerland (not very far away from where i live).
I know they seem to have dopaminergic action, but wether they are potent or weak dopamine reuptake inhibitors/enhancers i don't know.
Dopaminergic drugs like Selegiline or Mirapex are prescribed just for Parkinson or Alzheimer Desease, and ther's no way you can get them unless you have those deseases.
These drugs have not been approved for the treatment of depression so far (ther's just an experimental trial being conducted with Mirapex at the Clinical University of Pisa).
I was wondering if Nomifensine or Minaprine could be valuable substitutes for these drugs, since i can't find any pdoc in Europe willing to prescribe me Mirapex or Selegiline for depression.Any input will be appreciated

Minaprine and nomifensine cannot be found anywhere, otherwise I would have some right now.
Mirapex and selegiline are easily obtainable; you just have to go to a couple more doctors or order it from somewhere.

It wasnt available here very long, back in the eighties sometime. It is STRONGLY dopaminergic and I read it even has some D2 receptor agonist properties similar to what youd find in a parkinsons drug. Nomifensine is an ideal antidepressant for retarded or melancholic depression because of its stimulating, strongly dopaminergic properties.
Now for the bad news about nomifensine. It was recalled by the FDA because it was reported to cause a rare blood disorder that was fatal. Im not sure what the real risk was, but that is the official scuttlebutt on why nomifensine was recalled.
Its very interesting to know nomifensine is available in Switzerland still.

right about Nomifensine being wihdrawn from the market though. May be the above site has not been updated. (It should have been though, fake hopes are really depressing!).
I knew it could cause a blood desease, but i was hoping it could be rare, having a low incidence.
This is too bad, cause i think we should have the right to choose.
Besides that, the wider the range of available ADs, the higher the possibility to find one which is effective.
Do you know if amineptine has been withdrawn worldwide also? I've been searching for "amineptino" (the compund name in spanish and portoguese) and found out a few sites that seem to have it. Still, the sites i found might not have been updated, just like the swiss site i was talking about before.
