MIRTAZAPINE and its side affects HELP????

Posted by Angelkennedy on December 5, 2001, at 2:37:27

I Recently started taking Mirtazapine and am so incredibly sleepy all the time. When i do wake up I fall asleep again with-in 5mins even if I am sitting up. The only way I can stay awake is if I take Speed. Is there some form of Speed i can get from my doctor that will work well with Mirtazapine? Any other suggestions?

Ask your doctor about increasing the dose. With that particular drug, I believe that a higher dose causes less drowsiness.

My doc suggested taking a very high dose. She was right. Remeron is one of those odd drugs, where at a low dose, you feel sleepier than higher. Try 60mg a day; that actually makes me jittery from so much stimulation! Also, you will eventually build at least some tolerance to the somnolescence. Oh, and stay away from speed. It is highly neurotoxic, horrible for your heart and body, and will only hinder your success in feeling better. Trust me, just try a higher dose of mirtazapine!
