Want to change my effexor

Posted by NikkiT2 on November 27, 2001, at 9:50:03

I feel alo9t brighter now a days, Zyprexa is a wonderful drug. But, I'm on 300mg Effexor and really am getting to the point where I want off it. I've tried coming off it before and had hell for 10 days before starting it again. So, i thought that as I'm not working at the moment, now would be a good time to change it to something else...

But what else?? I am feeling alot more stable since getting the Zyprexa dosage right, but still have absolutaly no motivation to do anything, and then this causes anxiety attacks... I've read that people have found Wellbrutin helps with this, and is energising (I sleep 13 hours + each night)... But I'm in the UK and don't know what its called over here (or if its even agailable)..

Any help would be appreciated

ta

Nikki

Hi Nikki.

I had no trouble getting Buproprion (Wellbutrin) (which has been available in the UK as Zyban for 9 months) for off-label use, but I was seeing a specialist pharmacologist at the time. I didn't get any funny looks in the pharmacy because they assumed it was for smoking.

I'm not sure how comfortable UK docs are with prescribing off-label, but you could easily tell yr GP that you want to give up smoking....

Wellbutrin didn't have any AD properties for me but definitely counteracted Prozac lethargy.

J.
