Aggitation with Effexor and Zyprexa

Posted by jay on November 15, 2001, at 10:04:22

I notice most posts mention Zyprexa as being sedating with Effexor. I have the opposite...I get very aggitated, anxious, no matter what the dose. I had a similar problem with Risperdal. Benzos seem to tame it.

Any similar experiences...thoughts?

Thanks..

Hmmmm....I take both of the medications...the Effexor for my depression (which I have posted has worked magic for me). I take the Zyprexa (which does, for me at least) have calming effects, for calming me and keeping me from having psychotic episodes (I have BPD). When I first started the Zyprexa I was in the hospital and wasn't seeing my regular Psychiatrist. (I had to go to an institution that was out of her area.) The shrink that I had put me on such a high dose that I was like a zombie!! NO JOKE! He wouldn't lower the dose at all...even though I told him and he could SEE what it was doing to me..I suppose he wanted me 'calm' at all times during my stay! When I got out of there and saw my own Doctor she lowered the dose and WOW, what a difference. I take the Zyprexa in half doses throughout the day.

I have been associated with quite a few people who have been, or are on, Zyprexa and all of them were 'calmed' by it. I rarely, if ever, have heard of it making someone anxious or aggitated...I'm sorry to hear it is doing that to you.

If you are having such not so good results with it, are you still on it?? I hope not.
