Job Anxiety and Medication

Posted by Simcha on November 12, 2001, at 11:08:11

My Job has become high stress over the past few weeks. We have a reorganization going on. There is so much more than this though.

I am a contractor for a website for a large company. I am supposed to be a member of a team. The other team members (permanent workers) keep tons of information away from me. This is information vital to be able to perform my job well. Also I am not given the same tools as the other members of the "team." It's not just me. There is another contractor on the "team" that is treated similarly. We just had a redesign and neither I nor he knew when it was going to launch yet we were held responsible for maintaining the site through this transition!

Finally I've had it! I have pushed back. My boss is in trouble for her job. She has a new boss. My boss does not like it that I make suggestions, etc.! THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE MY JOB AS A CONSULTANT!

I got my contracting firm in negociations with these people. Today is a flashpoint. I might see what is supposed to happen today. I've done all I can do.

The thing is that the medication has kept me balanced throughout all of this garbage. (Celexa 40mg, Wellbutrin SR 200mg)

Last night I could not sleep! I had sooooo much anxiety. Today I've been anxious all morning. It's terrible. The thing is I am not certain that this is a panic attack or "normal" anxiety related to the job and the situation that might be appropriate.

Does anyone else know where to draw the line and get more meds?

Thanks,
Simcha

An occassional Benzo (Klonopin, Xanax) might help you through the rough spots. You might ask your doc. Just a thought

Thanks Kid.. I'll ask him in January! lol!

That's when I'm supposed to see him next. It seems to be working itself out tonight. I'm so exhausted I could sleep for years! I don't think I'll have trouble sleeping tonight.

Thanks for the support. If this becomes more of a problem I will get an appointment sooner to try to get some benzos.
