Gals - cycle effects??

Posted by Emme on August 8, 2001, at 13:42:03

Hi Everyone (Females, that is),

Has any of you noticed any menstrual/PMS symptom effects from your medications? If so, which drugs? During PMS, I tend to get bloated and be really swollen and painful on top. I could swear that this miserable problem has been made worse by some of the meds I've been on, especially those that tend to be more sedating. I wonder if this is maybe just coincidence, but my gut feeling says it's real. So I'm curious if anyone else has noticed anything similar.

Thanks,
Emme

I was taking domperidone which did a number on my breasts. I think now after months of not being on it am getting back to normal. This was a listed side-effect of this medication though.

I've noticed that on the effexor I started getting migraines which are menstrual related, these I haven't had since the birth of my first child.

I just started mirapex and am bleeding like a pig just been gutted.

Hi Emme,

I bled profusely for weeks nonstop on Paxil, but not on Prozac, Effexor, or Celexa. I didn't feel any pain though because all of them decreased my sensitivity to bodily sensations.

It sounds like you (and Mila) are getting some nasty menstrual side effects. Maybe I'm not imagining my PMS/swollen breast problems. I hope your migraines get under control.
