JohnL...a zoloft question

Posted by jotho on August 4, 2001, at 10:27:14

Hello...sent this to you yesterday on Joeypanic's thread but I know Dr. Bob did his monthly archive switch-over yesterday and maybe you did not see it. In hopes that is the case, I re-submit to you...I have a cache of zoloft left over from a previous experience (effective in only 4-5 days but wore off after about 6 months). I have been taking adrafinl (375 mg.=1 1/4 pills) daily and am pretty happy with the results but would like to augment with low-dosage zoloft since i already have them (I know you like prozac). What are your thoughts on that, and if positive, do you think 12 1/2 mgs. daily am would be a smart move for startup?
Thanks in advance for your input...jotho

Salarmy, do you have the link for SSRI's?

Maybe that link you posted a while ago (which I couldn't find) could help jotho out. The one about the differences in SSRI's?

Thanks a ton, guys...I recall JohnL's premise that drugs that affect positively in a short amount of time indicate a better affinity to 'needed' receptors. Since I had a positive result with zoloft in only 4-5 days, I'm assuming it might be a good match-up, or at least, a good trial anti-D, to try with the adrafinil. How do you two feel about a low-dosage anti-P like amisulpride (or zyprex?) to deal with social problems, i.e. constant (internal) critiqueing (sp?) of others, self-doubt, anxiety about getting together with others, constantly thinking about right thing to say with others, anhedonia, general anxiety fears (closing of throat type of thing) even when alone.
This board has been very beneficial to me and, i'm sure, countless others. Thanks again.
PS...MM, thanks for watching my back and picking up on my post!.......jotho

I don't know about the AP. It works for John, so who knows. I didn't like taking a low dose of seroquel (for sleep), but I think I'm fairly med sensitive. The seroquel did calm me, and I think it stopped some rumination, but it was a little bit like LSD/alcohol to me. I think (I could be wrong) you'd know fairly quickly (1-2 weeks) if it helped.
