You might also want to consider Effexor. It's indicated for GAD, and it worked very well very quickly for me.

Of the other two, depending on the severity of your worry, I'd give Buspar a try first. At least in terms of addiction potential, it seems to be more benign than Klonopin. Keep in mind that Buspar, like most antidepressant meds, takes weeks to start working.

Hopefully others (including your doctor) will chime in with more educated responses. :)

I would assume that buSpar is more versatile--it will treat your underlying depression as well as the anxiety. But for severe bouts of anxiety, Klonopin is another good option.

I second Pm's suggestion. I stuck with effexor through several months of side effects because it made the gad so much better. Mine was so chronic that I wasn't aware of it until the effexor got rid of it, and pow does it ever feel good.

Let us know what you decide,
Best wishes

I agree with everthing Salarmy said......klonopin the smoothest antianxiety agent. Buspar works for some but if you have panic at all forget it.

Buspar made me nauseous, dizzy, lightheaded and tired for the first two hours after taking it I could hardly do anything, then I'd be fine. But it was too much for me to go through that twice a day. I'm trying on more SSRI and if that doesn't work I'm asking my doc to stick with the klonopin which I know does despite the addictive quality.

Buspar worked for my brother, but Effexor has been effective for me.
