side effects

Posted by WitchyOne on June 4, 2001, at 9:10:52

I've noticed some of the side effects mentioned on here, being tired all the time, and yet not being able to sleep, dazed, (i'm also a blonde...connection?) etc. I have only been on it for 2 weeks, and tomorrow is my first dose at 75mgs, will the side effects increase or decrease?
THIS IS SCARY!

Witchy - Could you tell us what drug you are taking? - Cam

Witchy - Sorry, I hadn't read your earlier post about Effexor XR™ (venlafaxine). The start-up side effects that you are referring to do fade within 2 or 3 weeks, in most people. The can come back (usually milder) with every dose increase. - Cam

This medicine is scary to me after reading all the horror stories. It's bad enough i feel ashamed for having to take meds, because i'm NOT 'tough enough' to get thru whatever it is i'm going thru, and when i DO zone out, all i hear is "what's wrong with you?" from family members.
I didn't think being alone and very shy was a bad thing, guess i was wrong.
What happens when i want to come off Effexor? Then i go thru withdrawls? is this worth it?
HELP!

James here....

If you had high blood pressure, would they or you say the same thing ? Depression is a disfunction, just like any illness.

probably not. but they don't see it how someone trying to live with it see's it. Heck i have it and am trying to deal with it and don't understand it yet. I'm just really afraid of the Effexor XR after reading all these horror stories about coming off of it. Sorry, i had no intention of offending you or anyone James.

Hey WitchyOne,

Never feel ashamed you need help.
One of the warmest, satisfying moments
in the world is when we reach out to
receive or give someone else assistance.
Whether it be through a hug, kind word
or in many cases medicine.

You're trying to better yourself, and sometimes
we need assistance. Many people, as it's
often said, are afraid of what they don't
understand. In time they'll come around
and realize they need to support you and
not alienate you.

Consider this a cyber-hug and remember your
not alone.

Most people only post the bad things cause
that's what scares us. Even in my case where
I have my share of horrer stories the medicine
has helped and if nothing else it's helped me
get more help, through therapy and friends, etc.

Consider medication as a tool to get you to the
next level of your life. You need to seek out
and find what makes your life better not what
others around you can handle.

OK I'm done my rant now.......HOOOOWWWLLLLL

...........Wolfman
