Actually, while I was on it, relief from anxiety was one of the positive results I had with it...

Froggy - Anxiety is a start-up side effect of all serotonergic side effects. The anxiety usually goes away in 2 to 3 weeks after starting Effexor XR™ (venlafaxine). The body needs to adjust the brain's neurochemical mix, as a result of an increase in serotonin's activity. This increase in serotonergic neurotransmission causes the increase in anxiety, but disappears as your body adjusts to the prolonged activity of serotonin in the synaptic gap between 2 serotonergic nerve cells.
Hope this is of some help - Cam

Thanks everyone for your help. I wish doctors would inform patients of what to expect. Let's not start on them though.
