EFFEXOR: IS IT REALLY WORTH IT?

Posted by LAWRENCE OF BROOKFIELD, IL on March 17, 2001, at 18:56:26

*****************Hey, Everyone*************************

Hello, My name is Lawrence, I'm 15. Just started using

Effexor for exactly one week.( 7 days ago )So far ,it

seems I have some luck with it. Although I don't seem

to be eating as much, I've noticed a very

slight 'slowing down' in my activity. I Am VERY MUCH

against taking medication, due to the amount of

chemicals in them, but as everyone I know says "It's

just a small pill...It can't hurt you!" But if you

think about it, ecsacy and other drugs are small, but

they CAN hurt you. If it was my choice, I wouldn't

take any medication at all...

What do you think about this?

The Effexor will help your mood such that when stupid girls your age insult you, you will just brush off their cruel comments easily.

I wish I had taken Effexor when I was your age. I might have spared myself from all the emotional scars that pubescent kids inflicted on me.

Are you being forced to take the effexor? Do you think you are depressed? Maybe you should talk to your parents and your doctor more and decide if you are really depressed or not, and decide if you really need medication. I dont think you should take a medication if you feel like you dont need it.

What are you taking it for? Depression, ADHD??? Talk with your parents and doctor about your concerns. It may be worth trying just to see if it does anything good for you. If not you can always ditch it, or try something else.

Hey Lawrence,

I was on Effexor for four years, and it had some bad side effects like weight gain, insomnia and sexual dysfunction. They do not go away (at least with me).
All I can say about this and all the other medications I've been on is that overall you will feel better than being untreated. But I know how you feel. Being so young, I am hopeful that your problem will be "nipped in the bud" and you will be able to succeed without medication in not too long.
Good luck.

Thrud
