Wellbutrin crisis- running out, have no insurance

Posted by PhoenixGirl on January 12, 2001, at 13:26:59

I need advice on what to do. I graduated school in July and have been looking for a job, but nothing has come up yet. Because I have no insurance, the drug company let me have three months worth of my Wellbutrin. But for them to keep giving it to me, I have to have worked at least some in the past 3 months, and still be working, but I haven't. I have been too depressed and hopeless to take a part-time job. Does anyone know where to get Wellbutrin cheaper? At Eckerds, a month's supply at my dose is about $215! I have a months's supply left, and I take 400 mgs. Wellbutrin helps me stay awak during the day, which is great because I've had hellish fatigue for years before. I'm afraid that if I have to stop taking Wellbutrin, I will be so tired that my job search will be even more difficult. What is Wellbutrin withdrawal like? I may have to go through it soon.

Talk to your doctor and tell them your problem. In the past when my husband has been laid off the doctor's office has given me a month or 2 months worth. Doctors are usually given tons of free drug samples from the drug companies to give to patients they would probably rather help you out then lose a customer.

If it does come down to it, I don't believe there is any withdrawl... I didn't suffer any, just stopping, after being at 400mgSR/day. Good luck.

All above are good suggestions, especially easy would be to get the free samples from your doc.

PhoenixGirl, does your name mean you live in the Phoenix, Arizona area? If so, you could investigate getting your meds in Mexico; sometimes they are very cheap there. Lots of info on the web how to do it.

Forgot to add that it is completely legal. Senior citizens charter buses to go across the border to buy meds.
