need serzone info quick!

Posted by lala on September 21, 2000, at 12:22:34

i'm at my wit's end! i have a doctor's appointment at
3:30 and i plan to ask about serzone.

i have anxiety problems and all of these anti-depressants
are not helping me at all. prozac, effexor, remeron,
wellbutrin.

my last try is going to be serzone but i need to know,
does it make you drowsy all day?

DOES IT CAUSE WEIGHT GAIN? I CAN NOT OUT ANOTHER POUND
ON THIS BODY!

any help would be greatly appreciated!

lala

First, and most important of all, it does put on weight!< g > Seriously, I have been on Serzone for about two weeks plus and I am about to switch to the heaviest dosage as per instructions... The only effect I have definitely noticed is that when I am up half the night I am no where near as agitated as I used to be... I sort of take it in stride. Prior to this I was on Buspar and it did not seem to have any effect whatsoever! The primary reason Serzone was prescribed for me was to treat what the doctor suspectedmight be an underlying cause of my insomnia. Other than weight gain which I suspect coming from being a bit more relaxed, I have noticed no unusual side effects.

I've taken Serzone on and off for a 4 years now, and I did not experience weight gain. I think the drug is very useful for people with anxiety and have trouble sleeping because of excessive worry. Serzone has been effective in alleviating my anxiety related symptoms, however it has not been all that beneficial regarding my depression and that is why I've had periods where I haven't taken the drug in order to try others. thanks for all the information! i went to my appointment and discussed it with my doctor and he didn't want me to try it. he's decided that it is my continual obsessive thoughts about the weight and other things that needs to be under control before anything else. i hope everything else will fall into place once that is taken care of. he started me taking a very low dose of luvox to control to ocd. it also seems to have a side effect of decreased appetite/weight loss (i hope!) we'll see how it goes. i guess i never really put the two together, but maybe the ocd is the underlying factor of my anxiety. needless to say, this will be the LAST ad that i try! it is a vicious cycle.

thanks again-
lala

lala-
re:obsessive thoughts-consider adding seroquel to the mix or at least ask the doc about it. it is a wonderful mood stabilizer awa mental noise-reducer. helps w/sleep too. it may flab you up a bit but diet/exercise put a quick end to this--
