Confused with Celexa

Posted by Big Mike on June 28, 2000, at 10:07:08

Tomorrow will be six weeks on Celexa at 30mg (2 1/2 at 30)....some days I feel great, or some half days I feel great...yesterday afternoon I felt totally exhausted, dry mouth, and just miserable feeling I will never get better....but overall I still feel better than before I started...my obsessive negative thoughts are gone as is most of the anxiety...I will talk with my doc about going up to 40mg, but is this normal for Celexa, up and down for the first month or two???...Did anyone have these same feelings then go up in dosage and it fixed everthing????

Thx!!

Mike

I think that the up /down has more to do with startup & time on the med than the dose.

Keep going to 40mg. It may take 3 months to stabilize.

best wishes. keep plugging away. glad you are doing better.

Thanks Danf...how long did it take for you to stabilize and at what dose?...I must say I was doing great on Paxil at 30mg, but the weight gain pushed me off it..

been on the celexa about same time as you. At 40mg now.

more up than down days. However I switched from zoloft so this may have shortened the startup time period. also have been on a beta blocker & there are some reports that a BB can shorten the startup time too.

The time I am going on, is how long it took to stabilize on zoloft ( about a year ago ), which is a similar SSRI. It was longer than 6 weeks. the swings became less noticeable to me at 8 weeks & at 12 I realized they were gone, more or less.
