Computer needs repair - will you miss me?

Posted by KarenB on May 9, 2000, at 16:57:07

Hi guys -

I'll be signing off tomorrow for a couple of weeks while I send this nightmare of a computer to OHIO for repair. Supposedly, it will return with a new attitude. Even with a new hard drive, it continues to randomly throw me out and turn off. Then, it makes a game of whether it will let me back in or not. This has not been fun.

The moral of this story? Don't ever buy anything from somewhere too far to drive.

I will miss you guys. Yikes, what will I do without my computer? Is this an addiction?

Karen

Is this an addiction?

Karen,
Probably, but there are worse ones to have. Take good care of yourself and hurry back, you will be missed. We'll be waiting for you.

Hugs,
Greg

Cam and Noa,

Great idea, going to the Public Library BUT...I don't think the library is ready for my 2 1/2 year old, Jackson. He's just learning the difference between his "indoor" and "outdoor" voices:)

Talk to you guys soon. I'm going to miss you all.

No,Karen, your computer is probably not an addiction as much as it is a life line to support with others with a like problem;and as for me,it certainly saves money on long distance telephone calls 'cause I can email people who are online.
The Lord sure blesses us with great advances in technology, doesn't He?!?
Babble Board will miss you....take care.....

Janice,

Thanks for asking: I had kind of a rough week, fighting off a migraine but started a beta blocker and went back on the Adderall so I am feeling much better. Mentally, I am doing well this week - thank God.

You mentioned that taking stimulants calmed you down on another post. Seems that if you were truly Bipolar, you'd switch to mania, taking stims. Could it be you are actually ADD? I was previously diagnosed as Bipolar II. If you haven't already, go to www.addclinic.com and check out the article entitled 296 vs 314. I think you may find it interesting.

I tried to defend you last night from someone not aware of his own hostility. Geez - you did not deserve any of that nonsense. Don't know if it helped but I figured at least you would know you had friends out here. Being misunderstood and attacked always leaves me obsessing. Hope you didn't take his mean spirited comments to heart.

Have a great day Janice.

Karen

Hi Karen,

Glad to hear you got rid of the headache and are doing well.

I'm definately bipolar, and am trying to figure out if I have ADD. Everyone except one sister and my father has ADHD in my family. But from what I've been reading lately, bipolar people have many of the same symptoms as ADHD people, and I have even read that they often respond to stimulants in the similar fashion. I imagine if I don't have ADHD, I am certainly on the continum towards having it. Although the lithium seems to be working somewhat, I still cannot do a+b+c=d kind of stuff, am still impulsive and kind of hyper. I believe stimulants can prevent manias for bipolar people, they do with me. I did read that article (296, 314) and found it really informative Karen. thanks.

I REALLY appreciated your posting this morning. Thanks Karen. I wrote one back to him, but am unsure if I should have. As far as I could tell, he was taking his rage at the system out on me. No, I definately didn't take it personally. Thanks again though--it did kind of shock me.

Anyway we will miss you. I really miss my computer when I go away.

A lady named tina was interested in career counselling. Do you have the URL to your husband's grandfather's site? I really like the way they test people's skills.

Take care Karen B, Janice

Yeh, your addicted to your computer Karen. Most of us in America are quite addicted to something or the other. Maybe for the next couple weeks you'll have time to hang with your self-medicating spouse (if I recall).

I appreciate your posts, outrage and all. Reminds me of being married, except then it would be said behind my back to ma-in-law.

BoBB,

Thanks for the words. But...my spouse is not "self medicating" - must be someone else you're thinking of. There's only one medicated in our house and that's yours truly:)

See you in a couple of weeks.
