Sibutramine and Mood?

Posted by Darby on May 2, 2000, at 10:03:05

Sibutramine is used as an anti-obesity med and it seems to have a pharm profile similar to some antidepressants. Has anyone out there taken sibutramine (Meridia) and noticed any mood/depression/anxiety symptoms from it? Could it be used for any other psychiatric conditions?

Thanks for any input....

Go take a look at this website:
http://www.obesity-101.com/mersur.htm
It discusses a survey that was done with Sibutramine users. Some people reported an antidepressant effect with this weight loss medicine. Sibutramine is a reuptake inhibitor of serotonin and norepinephrine with almost no action on dopamine.
