The side effects of topomax in the beginning were o.k. now I feel like I am all numb and drugged up inside. This medicine is suppose to help ease anxiety, but I have felt more anxious than I have felt in a long time. I keep striking out on different mood stabilizers except for lamictal. The lamictal is not taking the obssessive thoughts on death. Please help

Amanda - You may be raising the dose too fast. It should be increased by 25mg every one to two weeks to avoid the side effects you are describing. These side effects may mean that the drug is starting to work. Give it some time and these effects will subside. Good luck - Cam W.
