Trying natural herbs instead of Xanax

Posted by Lisa on February 14, 2000, at 16:09:11

I have been on Xanax for three years. My new doctor is making me get off it. I like it, it helps me sleep by turing off my brain at night, and it gets rid of the muscle spasms, and weakness in my hands. My doctor gave me Paxil to try, but it made me see and hear weird things, and made me feel jittery, plus I couldn't sleep.I'm thinking of trying the natural herb Valerian.I tryed drinking a stong cup of Chammoile tea the other night(2 bags) and it helped a little, it takes about a half hour-45 minutes to work.

Lisa,

Consider giving a small dose of Dilantin a trial. Taken in a small dose it is very good at initiating sleep and reduces or completely eliminates spasms and helps with pain. I take 100mgs. every night before bed and I have never slept better. I wake up refreshed and it has eased my depression considerably. I dont know where I'd be without it. I dont experience any side effects from the small dose and it is very cheap. Around $11 for 30 caps. Anyway just thought it might help if you need them I have numerous abstracts of studies done on it. Just let me know.

Years ago jasmine tea seemed to help me, did you tell your doctor about your reaction to paxil? Some herbs may be toxic with prolonged or excessive use.
