each and very one of you who offer wisdom and support here, are lovely creatures...thank you for your presence.
I have started celexa, 20 mgs a day, and ativan as needed for anxiety, doc thinks this will help with the transition into celexa and also as a reprieve from my anxiety. so far so good....what I am wondering is, if I am taking ativan during my intorduction to celexa, how will I know if I am really acheeving any therpaeutic effects? I mean, I know it will take atleast 3-6 weeks before I can make a judgement about the celexa...I am just wondering if I doing myself a diservice by taking ativan as well....sigh
thanks all of you, for being as incredible, intelligent and complicated as you all are...:)

Know "Eddit" funcshion meens never having to say your Sorry.
Talk to your doc about the ativan. If he's giving it to you to ease you into the Celexa, then he'll probably taper you off of it as more of the celexa gets into your system. For most SSRIs, you will certainly feel *some* effect almost immediately, but reaching that "therapeutic level" can take two months or so.
You gotta stay in it for the long haul, so be patient.
Good luck!

Jenny Ann,
Good luck on the Celexa!! I have been on it for 4 weeks now, and didn't think I could ever feel like this again. I was on the merry-go-round for a bit, but this is finally the right AD for me. I started feeling better by the 2nd week!
I hope it works for you too!

I also take Celexa. I started with 10 mg. a day for two weeks and then went up to 20 mg. day. It took a long time 2-3 weeks to do anything. I had a lot of side affects at first. But now almost 4 months later I am doing very well on it. It seems to have given me the optismistice attitude to work on the things I need to work on. I am not as angry and irritated all the time either.
Hope it works for you.Alice
