Ed, are you bored? I used to use restraints on a lot of people but they were leather. This one looks a lot easier to use. Do you want to be restrained? Fondly, Phillipa

Yes, the smallest papoose boards are a Peds item for some procedures. I'm mainly familar with the circ boards. I've seen them in volumes in the Newborn area as circs are done prior to discharge. I could talk about Emla cream and nerve blocks to turn this into a med discussion, but it kinda gives the Y chromosome folks the heebie jeebies. (smile)

For you to use, or did you have a "special someone" in mind? You naughty boy! Of course, be sure to order the adult size.

I need those for two of my kids!!! LOL We thought about putting the dog kennel back up, but they liked that too much.

I can understand using papoose boards for babies :-) Using them to restrain adults scares me though!

Circumcision? Only a minority of boys get circumcised in the UK (thankfully!)

~~~Hey there Ed,
Yes, it's a valuable tool. Nothing like getting beamed with a arm, foot, body while one is holding sharp impliments. Or head butted - that's always fun. Itty bitties can be blanket swaddled - it serves the purpose of confinment, comfort, and pain control - strangely enough - at least that's what studies say.
We have fairly strict policies regard the use of restraints in general. It did used to be common practice - in particular with the confused geriatric poluation, I don't see it as much anymore.
> Circumcision? Only a minority of boys get circumcised in the UK (thankfully!)
~~~Still very common practice here. Often one of the first questions you receive from parents - even if there are a million other pressing issues to address before that procedure is even considered. There has been a movement for education, but culturally, this has not really caught on - at least where I'm located it has not.

Hope you're doing well,
Glydin

Hehe, I think these restraints could be useful sometimes...I think they would feel less scary than say, leather restraints. It must feel like being snuggled up...maybe even cozy. ;-)

If I were to volunteer to be restrained that way I think it might make taking my blood a lot easier! It's kind of masochistic. I think one might become less anxious when one knows that there is nothing one can do to control the situation. Just give in and accept the situation...be controlled, dominated. There should of course be a safe word. ;-)

When I was in the hospital, I got so scared that vasoconstriction made it impossible to take blood from me...it wasn't a pretty sight...exasperating for the nurses, and they had to take blood so many times!...I was a human pincushion I says! :-P Terrifying for me!

hi Deneb,
getting blood taken can be scary sometimes. I myself don't have "good" veins, so often if I need to have a blood sample taken, the tech has to poke me over and over. Sometimes they get the needle in and then root around for the vein. Awful! Of course sometimes I get the excellent techs that can find barely there, invisible little veins. I love those techs!

And then my skin is always sensitive, and I bleed under the skin a bit and end up with HUGE black/blue blotchy bruises all from one tiny needle stick in the arm. I worry that people will think I'm all messed up.

Luckily I don't need to have blood taken very often!

I knew you were. Kidding, that is. Why do people always think I'm being serious?! Gives me a complex! (not seriously!) Happens to me in RL too. I guess I have "that" look. ; ) Once a guy accused me of being store security! I think I was all of 18 or 19.

Oh well, could be worse, now where are those restraints?! Come on Ed, time to go night, night!
