Thanks for your response. That's a good question. I've had such bad insomnia until the past month that it is hard for me to say whether I was foggier on 20mg than on 10mg. I think it was about the same - which I told my doc, but he still wants me to try this since my insomnia is now practically gone. He's a very cautious & conservative fellow! I, however, am not that way at all - impulsive and wanting to charge on to find a cure!I've always had a little fog, due to depression I always thought. But I do want to get my thyroid and other hormones checked to make sure it's not something else.

How did you feel at 10mg when you started the Lex? Were you foggy/sleepy then too, or did it start at the higher doses?

Hi Anxious Babe and welcome! I'm 40 with 3 kids (second marriage) and have PMDD - pre menstrual dysphoric disorder. I was depressed, anxious but not panicky and a bit obsessive with some very negative thought patterns. The Lex has helped a lot! I've been on it a little over 6 months and went from 10mg to 20mg after about 10 weeks.
You may feel some side effects when you up your dose, don't be afraid to work through them for a few days or maybe even a week. That's great that the Lex helped reduce your need for the Xanax.

Hi, thanks for the welcome. I am 33, married with two kids and suffer from anxiety/panic disorder. I am on 5mg of Lexapro and 0.25 of xanax when needed. I used to be on xanax everynight before my doc put me on lexapro 6 weeks ago. I am feeling much better but I think I should increase my dose to 10mg, I was suppose to do that after 7 day but when I did I think my body wasn't used to the medication and I felt funny so I cut back down to the 5mg.

ali i feel the exact same way! 10mg (is that what you're on?) isn't much. you may want to try 15? i hate the spaciness...i know exactly what you mean about feeling like you're about to lose it but never do. im around if you need support.

Hi Mrs. C. - Thanks for your response! I have to give something a try. I've lived in a foggy, sleepy state for so long it's hard to realize that it's not normal! How long were you on 10mg when you started Lex? Maybe you just needed more time for the Lex to "kick in". ??? Who knows, 10 may be just perfect for you.

Hi Ali, I am so sorry that you are feeling blue. It's so good to hear from you again though. Is it possible that you are expecting your monthly "friend" soon. I almost always feel like I am relapsing around my time. Some of the s/e from the lex return too. Just a thought. Have you talked to your doc about this? You should if you don't feel better soon. Hey Lynne, I haven't checked the posts in a while. I see that you have begun your decrease. Glad that so far you feel okay. I hope that this works out for you. I think that I am finally starting to feel the effects of increasing to 20. Although this is the week before my period so I am feeling a little bit "fragile". Things are a little stressed right now for me but my final exam is this Saturday and dance is over for the girls this week too. So next week should be smooth sailing. Hi there Mrs C. Thank you for caring. I do not get a monthly anymore, too old lol. I am 47 and have been menapausing for 4 years and it has really sucked. Anyway I have been going through alot lately. My mom was diagnosed with cancer. And alot of other stress. I think that might have a lot to do with it. I dont feel as bad today so I am very thankful for that. I am going to go to my doc soon and talk to him. I really just want to feel at least semi- normal. I would be very thankful for that. Simus - That's a good thought. I was on it about 8 or 9 weeks at 10mg when I started backsliding, so went to 20mg the week after that. I do wonder if I had ridden it out another week or 2 whether I would've been okay. I hope 10 will work. I had a little anxiety yesterday, which was a 10-day. Don't know if it was my imagination taking over or if it was really the decrease!
I talked to my therapist yesterday and she agreed that going down to 10 and then back up to 20 on the day before I ovulate and the day of, then also on the 5 days before my period may just do the trick. I'm excited to get thru the next month and see how it works!

Bad news, my godmothers husband, my uncle has a brain tumor...he started acting all funny for no apparent reason twice in the past three months, and like passed out, maybe a seizure, and he has a left frontal giloma???Not good. Just in time for the wedding. I hope he is ok, I think sometimes things are worse than they sound. No he isnt going to live 30 more years, but I think the life expectancy is around 5-7...it is a low grade one, if it is inoperable they will treat with radiation and seizure meds....Not what I wanted to hear right now.

Hi Anakin, I'm sorry to hear of your news! I have a good friend who was recently diagnosed with an inoperable astrocytoma, grade 4 brain tumor. She is trying all sorts of treatments that could slow the growth. The newest drug is Temodar. It's supposed to really help. Every year they come up with new ones! The longer he lives, the more likely the chance they'll find something new for him. She's also doing lots of alternative stuff like acupuncture, energy work, massage, diet changes, herbs, etc. It may not cure her of the tumor, but it seems to be keeping some of the side effects at bay. Keep a positive thought and you never know what could happen :-)

Hey Lynne sorry to hear about your friend..I also have a friend that has cancer and she was given 1 year to live and is still here almost 2 years later...Have faith..She has managed to spend more time with her grandson and has welcomed a new one...Have you ever heard of glyconutrients I'm not sure about them as I'm just learning myself they are supposed to be all natural and gets your body back in to sync...There is a book Sugars that Heal and it tells you all about it...I have a friend at work that is taking them but you know me with the pill thing..But maybe you should just tell your freind about it and she can take a look at the book at the bookstore it couldnt hurt...Just had to let you know...Like I said I'm not real familiar with it myself but it might be worth it for your friend....Hope you are well and take care talk to you soon...Mystic

Honey anything that is bothering me right now is nothing compared to hearing that your mom has cancer. I would be totally devastated if it were my mom. I don't think any medication in the world can keep you from feeling awful over that. I will be praying for you both. Mrs. C
