buzzing brain and flickering eyes

Posted by linkadge on December 25, 2004, at 15:44:20

My brain buzzes. I can hear my whole body mildly shaking. Also if I close my eyelids my eyes are vibrating up and down very rapidly. I am very scared about what these medications are doing to my brain.

I've been told I have a temporal lobe problem.

Anticonvulsants do help some of my problems but they make me feel so hoplessly "incapable". When they say the medication affects only the temporal lobes, thats a bunch of crock, anticonvulsants affect the "entire brain".

I'm sorry to hear you are not doing well with CBT. I hope you don't become afraid from reading the article you posted. In my opinion only, I don't believe the meds could be affecting you like this. Have you ever had an EEG to assess brain activity? Maybe you need the Valium you were afraid to take. Just a thought. Fondly Phillipa

Best regards and no offense meant to anyone,

Link, I doubt you have any temporal lobe disfunctionality... CrazyChickUK included in that statement. My personal opinion, with careful observation of your postings, is that you likely are suffering from mild OCD/GAD with comorbid depression. Not sure you if can get a prescription for Xanax XR with your current insurance and location, but I would recommend that in combination with an SNRI like Cymbalta or Effexor.

CrazyChick -- OCD is definately your primary ailment, I would recommend monotherapy with a heterocyclic antidepressant; as well as combined CBT.

Best of luck to everyone,

Matt

I have the same thing that happens to me and I take Effexor. An hour after taking my daily dose, my eyes are heavy, my head is gloggy, and I constantly scratch my eyes wondering why my brain is shutting down, then I reach for soda, coffee or sugar to perk me up a little, especially at work in order to continue.

I absolutely know for *100%* sure that the celexa has started this problem I am having.

From the second week of starting it I started to have muscle spasms. The doctor said this was a possable side effect but to keep taking medication. Anyhow over the past 3 years it has progressed. My head twiches 6X/minaute, I have twiches in my arm muscles and legs much more frequently than this too. If I close my eyelids my eyes vibrate up and down and left to right.
At night while I am lying there all my muscles convulse at once BOOM!

I absolutely know it is the antidepressant since when I stop taking it (which I have experimentally done on a number of ocassions) it all ceases within a few days.

However, since I am addicted to the stuff I cannot stop taking it. So I still have pop theese pills like a smoker dying of lung cancer continues to smoke ciagarrettes.

I personally know of a few others who have had similar reactions.

I tried a 4month tapering scheme where I would disolve the citalopram in a fixed amount of water, and then let a little more water out each day. No matter how slow I went, the symptoms withdrawl would slowly start up, and never subside.

Link; I thought you were doing better too. At least you have sounded better on some of your other Posts I have read. How about the Benadryl and Prozac other Posters talk about to help with W/D? I don't know. Just a thought. Phillipa P.S. Crazychick, I thought coffee and sweets were helping you also?

With all those physical side effects I would think it would be effecting you emotionally, but I'm glad it's not? Are you still up for adoption? Phillipa
