toss everything that didnt have alcohol in it.
So now its empty 'cept for a bottle of wine
and some beer. i dont drink too much, but
i keep that stuff around for when one of my
pals comes over. She always beelines for the
fridge and asks if i have any beer. Im usually

yoshimi,

I can do PBJ, but scrambled eggs would require using a stove. I short circuited a stove when I turned on the wrong burner and shattered a ceramic tea pot. Tea and wires don't mix well.

Poet!

You are cuter than me. :)

I have actually put hot water in a ceramic
mug and put it on the burner and turned it
on to make tea. It was my fathers favorite
mug that he got overseas. Ooops. You
can actually make scrambled eggs in the
microwave. Thats the way i used to do it.
But I have moved up to the stove method now.
Its not too bad if you have a good nonstick
pan. You just mix up the eggs and a random
amount of milk and then throw it in the
pan, and mix it up a whole lot, cook it until
there is no liquid in there at all just egg.
Then get it out of there really fast before
it burns. Put a little cheddar cheese in
there and voila, Dinner. :)

Hi yoshimi,

I will have to try to make your scrambled eggs. I'll disconnect the smoke alarm first.

My husband does all the cooking. I used to make my speciality burnt grilled cheese sandwiches, but he said he didn't like them. Maybe I should try making them with a hot iron like Johnny Depp does in the film Benny and Joon?

I did the cooking for my family from the time I was ten. Now I never cook. If my husband doesn't hate something my son does. It's no fun cooking food no one likes. :(

Coriander leaves

Per Merriam Webster. Funny, I always thought it was in the parsley family.

I'm really sensitive to bitter, so I'm surprised I don't pick up bitter from it. It tastes fresh and with a bite to me.

dried vs fresh

dried herbs are concentrated. Always use more fresh than dried, and add leafy herbs in the last five minutes of cooking. THis does not apply to Bay or Rosemary.

cilantro is...

In reply to Ok, forgive me but ........, posted by saw on December 3, 2004, at 0:58:18

the leaves of the coriander plant, also know as Chinese parsley, Arab parsley. It's used in Asian, Mexican, Carribean, Middle Eastern and North African cooking.

The roots (as wellas the leaves) are used in Thai cooking. And maybe in other Asian foods as well, but although I cook other Asian foods, I've not yet heard mention of it.

Coriander is an old world herb, brought to the New World by, I think, the Spanish. There is actually some debate as to whether or not to refer to the leaves as cilantro and the seeds as corander. I think the whole things is coriander myself.

The seeds are one of the ingredients of curry powder, by the way.

I love cooking, but more often than not, I'm too tired to do it. I HATE cooking just because I'm hungry and need to eat. I do much better if I know in advance what I am making for dinner. It's a bit like getting dressed in the morning, and nothing looks good to wear. In the evening, nothing looks good to cook.

Thanks for the giggles I got when reading the rest of this thread!
