Strange thing about babble

Posted by ed_uk on May 28, 2006, at 11:40:33

Just wondered whether anyone else had noticed this about babble.

I haven't been on babble for a few days because I've been ill - a virus I think. When I came back (today) I felt like a stranger. So many new posts. So many new people! Other people seem to have disappeared. Does anyone remember me?!

It's weird. I've been posting on babble for ages.........yet a few days seems like I've been gone forever.

It's depressing somehow.

You're no stranger!!!!!!!!

But I know what you mean precisely.

That's why babbleland is so addictive...

Hope you're getting better??

Kind regards

One hint I have for you is to not be a stranger on other boards. This specific board has huge turnover. Some of the others still have posts visible from weeks, even months, ago.

I always notice when you're not here, by the way. You are quite conspicuous when you are absent.

Every time I've seen someone asking for a suggestion for a benzo to take, I'd say to myself, "where's Ed?" :>} You're obviously one of the most informed guys on the board, so of course you're missed. What I find interesting is that we can feel...uh, hurt? depressed? by things that happen on the board (and then I think to myself, "I'm a weenie, face it")I put on a post about some REALLY weird stuff that happens to me-that concerns me, and that the doc has no idea what it is about. I was hoping someone would tell me that I'm outright psychotic or to just forget it or they had heard of it before. I was waiting for replies and very concerned about what those replies might be. I didn't have to be: no replies at all. That made me feel pretty much like a bastard at a family picnic, as the expression goes. :>} It would be nice if a lot of the same people were always posting-but it's sort of like my support group: you never know how many people and exactly who is going to show up.

You don't think Valium gave you that virus, do you? :>}

Hi Lar

I should go on social more. I suppose I find it difficult to visit all the boards because I'm at work so much! I do sometimes visit the other boards but not very often at the moment.

Haha I don't think so I haven't taken any for ages!

That's so true. The worst thing is when no one at all replies. It makes you feel like no one cares, especially if you posted something really personal :(

Hi Willy

I've seen the Zoloft cartoon on the internet. We don't have that commercial here though - advertising prescription drugs to the public is illegal in England! We only get commercials for ibuprofen and stuff!

Need your opinion. I've been feeling pretty fearful/depressed on 0.75 mg Klonopin and 150 mg Wellbutrin (300 mg and 450 mg just made me more fearful) and so I added 15 mg Prozac and I'm starting to feel that AD stimulation that I associate with my success with Paxil for three years. 0.5 mg Xanax in the evening seemed to make me calmer in the morning and increased the AD effect until about 5 PM, when I crash. I don't feel all that good in the evening, which is fuuny, because all of my experiences with depression have been that I feel awful in the morning and feel progressively better during the day. Any thoughts?

Hi Bassman

Could you try taking the Xanax three times a day? You should then be able to reduce the Klonopin. I recall that you prefer Xanax to other benzos. Xanax usually needs to be taken several times a day due to its short duration of action.

I take the Klonopin (although at 1 mg it is definately depressing) to avoid the Xanax up and downs. I tried Xanax XR, but that just didn't work well at all.

Do you mean substitute the Xanax for the Klonopin-so that maybe I'd be taking 1.5 mg (0.5 x 3)Xanax/day instead of 0.75 mg Klonopin + 0.5 mg Xanax?

I am new to this board (to boards at all) and I am always wondering if I am saying something I shouldn't or offending people or making board faux pauxs...I hope not because I have really enjoyed my short time here and been blessed by the empathy and compassion you all have. Thanks for letting me in.

I'm pretty new, too, Mary and have had similar thoughts...I think it's just natural not to want to see how many people, who have a great deal of information and comfort to offer, that you can piss off. I've read your posts and they all seem very sweet to me; don't worry.

> When I came back (today) I felt like a stranger. So many new posts. So many new people!

I always feel that way. Did you know over *500* people posted on Babble last month? To keep up across the boards, you would've had to read 376 posts every day.

> Other people seem to have disappeared.

In Toronto, it was gratifying that several people at the table remembered my prior incarnation here and kinda wondered what had happened to him; Fallsfall said her connotations about my old screen name were positive. I appreciated knowing those things; that I was noticed.

> Does anyone remember me?!

> It's depressing somehow.

Their experience was the less without you, whether they ever knew it or not.
