My T changed my Day......Feeling Awful

Posted by sassyfrancesca on August 12, 2008, at 10:04:43

After seeing my t for 5 years at the same day time, he changed it because "my wife wants me to free up Sunday nights")....sure wish he didn't bring her into the "mix."

I realize that life is all about change, but I HATE it, LOL, LOL

It hit me really hard; am not sleeping well, and feeling depressed.....ideas, thoughts, suggestions......

Thanks, Sassy (not feeling so...sassy!)

It sure would be helpful if he'd just told you he needed to change, apologized for the disruption, and rescheduled, rather than mentioning his wife.

When my therapist needs to reschedule, she never tells me why. She just says she's very sorry and she'll make sure she finds another time that works for me. I like it that way. Too much to handle to hear about her personal life.

I hate it when they try and pass the buck like that. They try and make it look like it's not their fault, but it's always a double whammy for us. Why is his wife more important that you, for heaven's sake? *sigh* I feel your hurt.

To me Sunday is a family day so can understand why his wife might want him home one day of being with family. Sorry I disagreed. Phillipa

I wanted to scream and/or cry, but I remained calm, LOL, LOL

Thank you!

(((BSD))): Thank you sweetie: I was wondering if maybe I was too sensitive or overreacting?

Doesn't look like it; thanks to my friends here.

Hugs, Sassy

I agree with the others. Your t lacked sesitivity (among other things) Maybe he wasn't thinking how it would affect you. But he should have known that would be a very hurtful comment.

I love your name, and your T should have taken you out for lunch before he asked to change the day (I'm just kidding about that) and he shouldn't have brought his wife into the equation, it's none of your business. I mean, there's other ways of looking at it, and that's one of them; another way of looking at it would be to say that he should have just known where the boundaries are. Also, if he knows how you feel about him, then shame on him for bringing his wife anywhere near a conversation with you. Not yet, it was obviously too soon. Perhaps you are still in the stage of needing him to love you because you can't love yourself yet. Therapists, real ones, know this happens. Your therapist is playing a thrilling game of flirting with himself (Yes I said that), and using you as bait.

and your T should have taken you out for lunch before he asked to change the day (I'm just kidding about that) Yes, boundaries and all; LOL, although a few years ago he allowed me to cook some fabulous food and bring it in (he even fed me occasionally!

and he shouldn't have brought his wife into the equation, it's none of your business. Absolutely correct.

I mean, there's other ways of looking at it, and that's one of them; another way of looking at it would be to say that he should have just known where the boundaries are. Also, if he knows how you feel about him, then shame on him for bringing his wife anywhere near a conversation with you.

Exactly.

Not yet, it was obviously too soon. Perhaps you are still in the stage of needing him to love you because you can't love yourself yet.

I do love myself.

Thanks for the validation, I was wondering if I was way off base. I'm glad you love yourself, you and your therapist have obviously done some good work. Keep it up!!!
