Buspar (higher dose), + MAOI perhaps?

Posted by uncouth on March 30, 2016, at 20:23:40

Interested in hearing if anyone has ever pushed Buspar dose high, upwards of 30 or even 60mg, 2x per day?

I have tried buspar in years past but never on an MAOI, which I am also on now. (Parnate 120mg).

I know there is "some" risk for serotonin interactions but i'm not that worried given it doesn't release or inhibit reuptake. I'd start low and go slowly up, though I am also wondering what effect it might have low dose vs high dose (differentiaally).

Looking for something to help with my social anhedonia. Something like a low-grade MDMA that stimulates 5ht1a (partial agonist) and improves sociability while reducing anxiety, and perhaps improving mood as well.

Any thoughts? Any thoughts or experience on combining it with MAOI? Or at higher than normal dosages? Willing to experiment.

I'd also like to get an idea about the effects of a low dose of buspar compared to a high dose. But if you're looking for more potent 5ht1a partial agonist, you might consider Viibryd and especially Brintellix, which is a near full agonist at the 5ht1a receptor. I've read Buspar actually has a pretty low affinity for the 1a receptor.

If you want anti-anxiety, why not try Nardil which is a Gaba-t inhibitor.
