my psy doc suggested Buspar to help with my OCD, but I've never heard if Buspar helps or makes OCD worse.
Anyone know?
I'm on Lexapro 20mg right now

Generally not but sometimes helpful for certain symptoms of OCD ie anxiety.
The therapudic action of SSRI's in OCD is thought to be through activation of second-messanger cascades through agonism at the 5-ht2a,c receptors.
Infact hallucinogens like mescaline which are potent agonists of the 5-ht2 system, have been studied for clues into the illness.
Buspar preferentially agonises the 5-ht1a receptor which is responsable for antianxity effect, but does not seem to have direct anti-obsessional qualities.

I was given buspar when my anxiety was uncontrollable. I never noticed a thing. I'd never considered that my pdoc at the time thought my high anxiety was related to OCD, although I am compulsive and do a lot of ruminating and counting. Fondly, Phillipa
