Extremely Irritable/Anxiety

Posted by griswald on October 7, 2004, at 19:16:47

I'm bipolar II and, for the first time in my life, I'm on a medication cocktail that is really effective for the cycling. However, lately I have been EXTREMELY irritable with periods of extreme anxiety, to the point where it good cost me my job. Do any bipolar II's have any experience with this. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I'd look for any recent change in the cocktail to see if that could be a *cause*, such as an antidepressant or stimulant dose increase, etc. One thing I do if I'm in a temperamental mode and I have to go into an environment/situation that is somewhat volatile is to take an extra 125mg of Depakote about an hour or two beforehand. Another med trial remnant that I found somewhat helpful for this was to take a tab of verapamil an hour or two before (like before you go into work and walk into something unexpected and upsetting). hope this helps

Thank you Ritch (nm)
