Absolutely. I think you could definitely be a good T, even with an abusive childhood. In fact, I think it can make a person a better, more sensitive and empathetic therapist when they have "been there" themselves. You know the pain.. you've felt it. Also, I think it'd be a great thing to talk to your T about. I cant imagine that he'd laugh at you. Who knows, maybe he's been there himself.. most of the time, we'd never know it.
