Sometimes I wonder about this too, particularly since terminating therapy.

I find all this thinking takes up so much time that I could be spending doing other things.

On the other hand, I do seem to be getting better (slowly!) so it must be doing some good.

For me its a question of preventing psychological thinking from becoming rumination. And being able to put it aside when I need to. Some days I really do seem to need to think about things all day long. But I dont like to have too many days like that. Its exhausing!
