I guess my delivery was too dry.

Cold fusion, maybe?

I admit that most of my jokes are designed for an audience of one.

My fiancee usually laughs at all of my jokes. Not so much yesterday, though. She always needs a cup of coffee first thing in the morning. She isn't quite right until she does. Well, I guess I told her my joke too early in the morning. I found it amusing and worthy of at least a chuckle. No laughter? So, I asked her if she had had her coffee yet. Quite seriously, she asked, "What makes you think your joke will be any funnier after I do?" I laughed uncontrollably for about 10 minutes.

In all seriousness, I think humor played an important role in my waking up each morning during 40 years of failed treatments and pain.

Your words to me were very kind and greatly appreciated.

Some see things as they are and ask why.
I dream of things that never were and ask why not.

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.
