Lithium-induced hypothyroidism may disappear when the lithium is withdrawn. This is especially true when the total time on lithium was just a few weeks or months.

Subject: Duration of lithium-induced hypothyroidism

My impression is that Li precipitated hypothyroidism reveals a thyroid abnormality our tests are too insensitive to detect. I treat even apparently remitted cases as hypothyroid with I think good results.
