Beginning of an End - pt.1

A cold, icy frost has breathed down from the Arctic
And the Avenue is blanketed white
With gleaming rooftops and sidewalks.
People watch their footing all bundled in goose down
As they hurry to finish their holiday shopping.

Young American boys slam bellies against hot sand
Bundled in green fatigues, M16s nestled against shoulders.
Hot, dry sand for miles around
Against a deep blue sky.
There's an emptiness in that sky
A feeling of unrealness.

Slammed against the wall in your long white coat
Another night of call has begun
And you've been hit twice already.
You fight to stay alive but the ideals of medicine
Are dulled by exhaustion and the desire to escape
Into the sunshine once more.
...

Long ago and far away -
December, Boston

It seems so long ago...I don't even remember really.
Like faded flowers...it's in the black now.
It will never be white again...a ghost in a gilded shell.
I never said goodbye to you...bye Marcus.
The fallen prince.

Fields of Gold http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZg-4htrzOk

You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Among the fields of barley
You can tell the sun in his jealous sky
When we walked in fields of gold

So she took her love for to gaze awhile
Among the fields of barley
In his arms she fell as her hair came down
Among the fields of gold

Will you stay with me will you be my love
Among the fields of barley
And you can tell the sun in his jealous sky
When we walked in fields of gold

I never made promises lightly
And there have been some that I've broken
But I swear in the days still left
We will walk in fields of gold
We'll walk in fields of gold

I never made promises lightly
And there have been some that I've broken
But I swear in the days still left
We will walk in fields of gold
We'll walk in fields of gold

Many years have passed since those summer days
Among the fields of barley
See the children run as the sun goes down
As you lie in fields of gold

You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Among the fields of barley
You can tell the sun in his jealous sky
When we walked in fields of gold
When we walked in fields of gold
When we walked in fields of gold
