It Was a Day Like Any Other

Posted by fayeroe on June 8, 2009, at 11:23:36

I found her lying all alone
in the dark.

Never mind that we spoke,
we didn't say goodbye.

I tucked her in with her
favourite sheet and
put a pillow under her head.

Never mind that we spoke,
we didn't say goodbye

Robert and a friend came
the next day and carried
her the last mile.

Never mind that we spoke,
we didn't say goodbye.

We had a bush cat, a tabby, and she would lie beside me with my arm around her as I read.
She died from a tick, a truly horrible death, and then we buried her and walked back.
I said 'It's such an awful empty feeling, isn't it?'

Thanks.....I am having such a hard time with losing her. We were together every day for 7 years. I don't remember spending a night away without her. No one will talk to me about her and mourning alone causes more internal stress than I can handle sometimes. I'm glad you had your husband. People are weird at times. I think I mentioned way back that I just wanted someone to hug me and let me cry as long and as loud as I could. I suppose I could always ambush someone on the streets here in this small town! "Hey, hold me!"....I have to smile or it just washes me away. I've gained a tremendous amount of weight from stress eating..........

I rescued "Clementine" awhile back. I wasn't ready for another dog but when I was called about a half airedale-half german shepherd little girl...I knew I should take her. She shows so many airedale traits and of course the german shepherd has a very strong personality. She keeps me very busy. She is extra sweet. Smiles constantly. She lived on a busy highway for a week and ate roadkill. Wouldn't eat the dog food at first that the rescue agency left for her. Poor Kid.

Thanks, again..........Pat

Sigismund.....When I saw Fayeroe lying in the dark backyard.......I felt as though someone had kicked me in the gut and all of my air was gone. It was the emptiest feeling that I've had about an animal. When we buried her, it was the same. It took me to my knees.

I'm sorry about your cat. Tick related diseases are horrible. Horrible. I've been sick twice from ticks and I cannot imagine what a small cat would go through......I'm sorry...........xoxoxo Pat
